課程概述 |
Course Description: This course is an introduction to the principles and methods of linguistics. It is designed to be the first course in linguistics, and, thus, no prior knowledge of linguistics is assumed. The topics to be discussed during the academic year include the central areas of current linguistic research, i.e. phonology, syntax and sociolinguistics along with other important areas such as phonetics, morphology and semantics. |

Course Objective: The main purpose of this course is to provide the student a broad understanding of human language: what it is, what it is used for, and how it works. Ultimately, the course should result in learning how to think about language rigorously and technically. |
